
Nick Minaj and most mainstream, black female rappers make music for their male audiences when they should be speaking for and empowering black women. Until that changes, I see no point in buying their music.

She’s right. Beyonce can’t be the only role model in the entertainment industry young girls can look up to. Especially when it comes to the rap sector of the music industry, we lack female rappers (when compared to the amount of male rappers there are) to begin with. We especially lack female rappers that consistently represent a positive image of women. Female rappers and other female artists shouldn’t feel that they are empowered by shaking their asses, rocking push up bras 24/7, and talking about sex, cause that is really just giving the power back to the men. Women should be empowered by just being the beautiful women that God made us to be. Women are humans too, not objects. Especially not Barbie dolls.
